What’s New Parade Registration is Open! Registration for the 2024 Porsche Parade, to be held June 9 – 15 in Birmingham, Alabama, opened on January 31. Phase 2 registration opens April 3. Make sure to get your registration in soon if you plan to attend! Head to https://www.porscheparade.org/ to get started. May Dinner Drive We invite you to join us for the first dinner drive of 2024 on May 11 th . We will meet up in Wayland (exit 64 off US 131) at 2 PM for a leisurely drive (around 90 minutes) through the Yankee Springs and Gull Lake regions. Our destination is a unique bar and grill in Kalamazoo at the former Arcadia Ales site – Thunderbird River Ranch ( www.tbirdkzoo.com ). The restaurant sits along the banks of the Kalamazoo River and has a northwoods theme and offers a variety of handhelds and beverages, including some interesting craft cocktails (one of Marshall’s favorite things). The Tbird recently added a Reuben to the offerings which got John’s seal of approval! If the weather cooperates the restaurant has an outdoor beer garden area which includes game options such as giant Jenga and corn hole. Then plan to come out for this event. For those unfamiliar with Sporting Clays it is a form of clay pigeon shooting on a course that consists of shooting stations holes” in natural terrain. Unlike traditional skeet shooting sporting clays simulates the unpredictability of live-quarry shooting, offering a great variety of trajectories, angles, speeds, elevations, and distances. Trust is when we say — No skill or previous shooting experience is required to participate and have fun. This event is outside along a groomed trail – Rain or shine. As part of the trail is in the woods even in the rain there is a lot of protection from the weather. Please wear appropriate clothing and shoes. Eye and ear protection is REQUIRED. Regular glasses/sunglasses are adequate, and they do have some protective eyewear available, but if it’s busy they may run out. They also sell earplugs. Guns are available to rent for 10.00 – 15.00 (2 people can share 1 gun) and of course ammunition is available for sale. The cash cost (2.00 higher for credit card use) will be 29.00. Shells will be approximately 23.00 for 2 boxes. You are more than welcome to bring your own shotgun and shells. Additionally, if you would like to participate, but are unsure about the walking distance let us know. You are always welcome to join us to spectate and wander through the wood with us and just hang out. More to come via web and e-blast regarding a potential lunch on your own to follow. The route will follow a scenic drive through the back roads on Leelanau County. Mike Fisher will share a route with a number of unique and little-known roads that will highlight the beauty of the area. Due to limited space the event is limited to WMR PCA members ONLY. Turbo Tuesdays Don’t forget our monthly casual social event for WMR members, held the third Tuesday of every month, Turbo Tuesday. Gatherings are shifting to the Centre Street Tap House in Portage. Periodically the event will move venues so please check back to see the current location.The events will give us a chance to discuss our cars and other common interests. Remember, it is not just the cars, it’s the things we do and the people we do it with. In addition to information you will find a copy of the required tech inspection form.
